This afternoon soprano Lisa Mooyman makes her debut appearance with the Rose City Chamber Orchestra. As a Fulbright scholar, Ms. Mooyman specialized in baroque and contemporary music at the Royal Conservatory of Music in the Netherlands, was heard on NCRV (The Netherlands Classical Music Radio), and performed with The Netherlands Bach Society. She has performed with the Oakland East Bay, Seattle, Oregon, Columbia and Vancouver Symphonies, and has recorded on the Koch label with the American Bach Soloists.
Her oratorio work includes performances with the Portland Baroque Orchestra, Sacramento Choral Society, The Oregon Repertory Singers, Eugene Concert Choir, Choral Arts Ensemble, and Willamette Symphonic Choir.
She recently portrayed Norina for Rogue Opera's Don Pasquale. Her Mozart roles include Constanza, Queen of the Night and Silberklang for the Aspen Music Festival; Adele in Die Fledermaus, Yum-Yum in The Mikado, and Mabel in Pirates of Penzance for Mock's Crest Productions; and Arsena in Strauss' The Gypsy Baron for The Musical Theater Company.
Ms. Mooyman was the Metropolitan Opera Auditions winner for Oregon and regional finalist in 1993, and a national finalist in the NATS Artist Award competition in 1989 where she was winner of the Alpha C. Mayfield Award.
As a baroque specialist Ms. Mooyman has worked with conductors Roger Norrington, Jordi Savall, Ton Koopman and Paul Hillier among others, and has studied in England and at the Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio.
She has sung Baroque music with The Winthrop Fleet in Los Angeles, and contemporary music with Third Angle and Fear No Music Contemporary Ensembles.
